CNY09 - Lunar New Year Fair & Flower Market
Lunar New Year Fairs are common a few days before the Chinese New Year. The biggest Fair in Hong Kong is held at the Victoria Park and comprises of a large Flower Market and hundreds of other stalls selling food, toys and good luck souvenirs. Held on the eve of chinese new year, the Fair is part of custom, hang nin siu (行年宵, literally: walk the year night) or hang fa shi (行花市, literally: walk the flower market). The activity is at it's peak around midnight as the fair closes before dawn on New Year day. Vendors try to sell all flowers before close, and often don't take back any leftovers that could not be sold.
